About
I wake to the mourning doves keening their sorrowful tunes, looking out to see rolling hills dotted with horses, cattle and deer, surrounded by the proud Ponderosa pines. My shelves are littered with fantasy and adventure novels, and an overwhelming number of DVDs (old fashioned, I know). Each wall is decorated with paintings and artwork from artistic family members, friends and famous strangers. It’s safe to say I have grown up embraced by nature, storytelling and art, and it has greatly influenced my own work. Ever since I was a child, I was sketching wildlife, creating characters, and painting landscapes. Like most illustrators, my art needs to tell a story and capture viewer’s interest. I want my work to be immersive, with realistic depictions, attractive colors, and striking compositions. It is through a strong dedication to the visual aesthetic that I can better depict my themes and concepts. By intentionally considering such emotions as wonder, sadness, joy, astonishment and peace, I establish an overall mood that drives the story and illustration.
I received a BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) in April 2023. My major was Illustration with an emphasis in Concept Art. During my education, I became a member of the Red Shoe Guild, participated in Figure Drawing Nights, and founded the Concept Art Club. RMCAD has also featured many of my art pieces on their marketing channels.
My work encompasses traditional and digital media where I create many personal pieces, as well as commissioned art for clients. I have designed logos for Equi-Flyer Horse Box, as well as other start-up companies, and nationally recognized horse shows like the Colorado CDE and Colorado Pure Silver. My experience has also entailed directing and designing the artwork for a permanent sign installed on the Jensen Pavilion building at the Colorado Horse Park.
